MEDICAL/ HEALTH:
VICDA works in collaboration with the community medical centers where the common man and the less fortunate meet for medical attention. While the government of Kenya is doing so much on providing medicine to our hospitals, you will find that it is still very expensive for many people to afford healthcare in the country. In this case VICDA supports those centers with any kind of support they get from world organization in either provision of medicine or volunteer services, not to forget that most of these health centers do no have very basic facilities to attend to the needs of the patients.
VICDA healthcare volunteers will be placed in such health centres where they will work and offer their skills. There is a great need for more nurses and medical personnel to come and volunteer their time in these needy centres. The need for medicine is overwhelming. Many people that will be attended in these dispensaries are HIV positive and from time to time will require a great deal of care including home care. In the past, our volunteers have been involved in visiting HIV patients in their homes and provide medication, or sometimes help transport them to the medical centres.
VICDA also organises community free medical camps in remote villages where there are no hospitals and healthcare centres. Organizing such camps requires a great deal of planning and medical supply. We would like to encourage any doctors and nurses out there who can put together a medical team to get in touch with us so that we can work together and reach our needy communities.
